Residential Roof Replacement – Altadena, CA

Sonoma Residence

residential roof replacement in altadena, ca
This approximately 2,500 sq ft residence with attached garage in Altadena had multiple layers of existing roofing, areas of dry-rot and existing leaks. Upon inspection, it was determined that this roof was past its serviceable lifespan and spending money on repairs didn’t make sense.

Because of the location (un-incorporated LA County), a shingle with a low Solar Reflectance Index was required, meaning only limited colors were available to the homeowners (Click Here for Additional Info on SRI Requirements for Your Home). After reviewing samples of potential options, GAF Timberline Reflector Series in Golden Amber was selected for the sloped portions of the roof and a Title-24 compliant, torch-applied membrane was selected for the flat sections.

Because the slope of the roof is only 2:12, two layers of underlayment were used under the shingles and the valleys and pipe penetrations were re-inforced with a self—adhered underlayment to make the roof bulletproof!

In addition, the old ridge shingles were removed on the pool house (not pictured) and a ridge vent was added to increase ventilation.

Although we can’t take credit for choosing the color (it was all the homeowners’ decision), we think it turned out beautiful!
